Trish Regan joins Bloomberg TV

Anchor nabs regular gig on net's 'Street Smart'

With the 2012 election entering full swing next year, former CNBCer and CBS News correspondent Trish Regan has joined Bloomberg TV as anchor, with a regular gig on the network’s “Street Smart,” beginning Jan. 9. Regan will also anchor several primetime specials related to the 2012 presidential election, as well as coverage of the campaigns.

“Trish is an accomplished broadcast journalist and skilled reporter who has covered some of the most important global economic stories of our time,” said Bloomberg TV U.S. topper Andrew Morse.

Morse said Regan would “play a key role on our Bloomberg team as we move forward” — the acquisition from rival CNBC would seem to be in keeping with Bloomberg’s stated goal of increasing market share in the biz news world.

Regan anchored primetime docus for CNBC and reported on breaking economic stories, including the 2008 banking collapse in the U.S. and subsequent debt crisis in Eurpoe. She also covered the G-8 summit in Germany and contributed regularly to NBC’s “Nightly News with Brian WIlliams” and “Today.” At CBS News, she contributed to “Face the Nation” and “48 Hours” and corresponded for “CBS Evening News.”
