‘The Situation’ inks deal with MTV

Mike Sorrentino made famous on 'Jersey Shore'

The Situation will be resolved at MTV.

Mike Sorrentino, made famous for his participation in the megahit reality series “Jersey Shore,” has signed a series development deal at the cabler. While he has no specific project attached right now, a pilot presentation is expected to be filmed later this year.

Sorrentino’s pact comes soon after MTV greenlit two “Jersey Shore” spinoff series. The first features Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Jenni “JWoww” Farley, the other with Paul “DJ Pauly D” Delvecchio. Each will launch in 2012.

“Jersey Shore” is MTV’s top-rated series ever and the No. 1 original cable series on air today among young adults. Its third season showed viewership gains in the 12-34 demo of 35% compared to season two and nearly tripled the season-one numbers.

“I’m excited to continue my relationship with MTV, which has been home for me for the last couple of years,” Sorrentino said. “I’m really grateful for all the support from my fans. Hopefully, there will be plenty more situations in the future.”
