Spike TV orders two new series

Gameshow, remodeling skein in the mix

Spike TV has ordered 20 halfhour episodes of gameshow reality series “Repo Games,” produced by 495 Productions (“Jersey Shore”), along with 10 hourlong eps of nightspot remodeling skein “Bar Rescue.”

Described as a cross between “Cops” and “Jeopardy,” “Repo Games” follows real-life repo men Josh Lewis and Tom Detone as they travel around the country offering potential repossessees a chance to win the balance on their car loans by playing a five-question trivia game on the spot. If contestants lose, their cars get towed. Show is produced by 495 and exec produced by Sally Ann Salsano.

“Bar Rescue” is a save-the-restaurant skein a la Fox’s “Kitchen Nightmares” in which Jon Taffer, a restaurant and bar consultant, gives failing establishments a chance to reverse their fortunes, with Taffer and his team delving into every facet of running a bar. The show is produced by 3 Ball Productions/Eyeworks US and exec producers J. D. Roth and Todd A. Nelson.
