‘South Park’ renewed through 2016

Parker and Stone's Comedy Central staple making it to 20 seasons

Comedy Central has renewed “South Park” through 2016, taking the show to its 20th season. Trey Parker and Matt Stone will continue to write, direct and edit every episode of “South Park” as usual (the pair also provide most of the voices on the animated series).

The Viacom comedy cabler has devoted plenty of marketing dollars to branding 2011 “The Year of the Fan” for “South Park” aficionados on the occasion of the series’ 15th season. The multi-hyphenate duo behind the series recently swept the 2011 Tony Awards with religion-themed musical comedy “The Book of Mormon.”

“Comedy Central has been our home for 15 years and we love working there,” said Parker and Stone. ” ‘South Park’ is a blast and we can’t wait to make more.”
