TOKYO — Sony has unveiled details of the VOD service it will launch in Japan on Jan. 26.
Called Video On Demand powered by Qriocity, it will offer nearly 200 titles, including recent pics from Sony, Fox, Par, Universal and Warner, as well as exclusive showings of toons and other content.
All the programming will be streamed in HD or SD format, while the price per title will range from $6.10 to $12.20 for HD, and $4.27 to $8.54 for SD.
Once viewers buy a title they will be able to access it for 48 to 72 hours after they start watching.
Initially, they will only be able to use the service on Bravia sets with network capability, including the 40-inch 3D model. On March 13, Sony will launch 3D and Internet-capable mid-priced sets in Bravia EX series.
