Nine Scripps-owned stations have added affiliations with the ABC-owned HD digital network Live Well.
Live Well is designed for broadcast stations’ digital subchannels, providing original programming to local markets around the country, including 16 other affiliates. The addition of the nine Scripps stations pushes Live Well’s coverage to about 40% of U.S. households.
There’s a broadcast component to Live Well, too — every station that takes Live Well as a digital channel agrees to take at least one of its half-hour programs for traditional broadcast. The digital net’s programming is mostly lifestyle focused; staples include cooking, home improvement and health shows.
The new Live Well stations include ABC affils in Detroit, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Phoenix, Tampa, Fla., and Baltimore, as well as NBC affiliates in Kansas City, Mo., West Palm Beach, Fla., and Tulsa, Okla.
“We look forward to working closely with these community-spirited stations committed to providing top-quality programming that is attractive to local advertisers,” said Rebecca Campbell, prexy of ABC Owned TV Stations Group, which oversees the Live Well operation.
