Scribe Anne Meredith has signed on to pen the script for “The Red Tent,” a miniseries in development at Lifetime.
Project is eyed as a four-hour mini based on Anita Diamant’s 1997 novel set in biblical times when women would gather in tents to support one another on issues ranging from motherhood to local events. The central character is Dinah, a woman who marries a prince and has a falling out with her murderous brother.
“Tent” is being shepherded by Paula Weinstein, who will exec produce with Jeffrey Levine (Daily Variety, Oct. 26). The project has yet to receive a greenlight from the cabler.
Meredith wrote the upcoming Lifetime telepic “Secrets of Eden,” starring John Stamos and “Breaking Bad’s” Anna Gunn. She also has a handful of feature screenplays in development. Other past TV credits include the Showtime made-fors “Bastard Out of Carolina” and “Rated X.”
She’s repped by Gersh and manager Margaret Reilly of Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
