Pan-European broadcasting giant RTL Group has appointed former ProSiebenSat.1 topper Guillaume de Posch as chief operating officer.
Effective Jan. 1, de Posch will be in charge of the corporate strategy and business development team at RTL’s headquarters in Luxembourg and also oversee broadcasting in the Netherlands and Belgium as well as radio in France.
The Belgian native will also serve as a member of RTL’s executive committee alongside CEO Gerhard Zeiler, chief financial officer Elmar Heggen and Andreas Rudas, exec VP of regional operations and business development in central and eastern Europe and Asia.
Zeiler said de Posch’s new function would be “vital to drive RTL Group’s expansion in new businesses and markets. Guillaume has a truly unique expertise in all aspects of the international broadcasting business, combined with a deep understanding of the technological challenges for the media industry in the digital age.”
De Posch began his career at Compagnie Luxembourgeoise de Telediffusion, which became RTL Group in 2000, as assistant to the managing director before moving on to become head of CLT’s TV arm in French-speaking countries.
From 1997 to 2003, he was deputy general manager and programming director of Gallic feevee TPS before joining Munich-based ProSiebenSat.1 in 2003, first as chief operating officer and then as chairman and CEO. He ankled in 2008 and has since been a consultant to European and U.S. broadcasters.
