Hasbro Studios has signed writer-producer Jeff Kline to a four-year overall series development and production deal for children’s animation.
Kline is currently executive producer on kids’ animated series “Transformers: Prime” and “G.I. Joe: Renegade,” both for the Hub, the cabler joint venture between Hasbro and Discovery Communications that launched in October.
“We want to take advantage of the thousands of brands Hasbro has,” Kline said. “There are brands people know and brands buried in the archive, and part of the fun for me is digging through that treasure trove.”
Kline also exec produced the Emmy-nominated “Dragon Tales” on PBS and worked on “Men in Black: The Series” for Kids’ WB.
“Jeff is a truly gifted writer and producer with a phenomenal understanding of our target audience,” said Hasbro Studios president Stephen Davis. That understanding comes from, as Kline puts it, “never having grown up.”
Kline worked as a development exec for Columbia Pictures TV before making the segue to writing and producing in 1995. He’s repped by CAA.
