Nickelodeon has optioned the rights to Sara Mlynowski’s “Magic in Manhattan” series of young adult novels for a television movie to be produced in partnership with Overbrook Entertainment.
Four-book series includes “Bras & Broomsticks” and “Parties & Potions” and follows the adventures of 14-year-old Rachel Weinstein, who learns that her divorced mother and younger sister are witches, and might be persuaded to use their powers to help solve teenage problems — like a dad on the verge of remarrying and a school with an exclusive “in” crowd.
Series is published by Random House’s Delacorte Books for Young Readers. “Parties,” the most recent volume, was published in February 2010.
