NBCUniversal-owned mun2, a cable channel targeting U.S. Hispanics, is deepening its relationship with one of its star attractions.
Chart-topping artist Jenni Rivera has signed a production deal with the network that will ensure the return of unscripted series “I Love Jenni” and the creation of a new series featuring Rivera’s daughter, Chiquis.
“Jenni is an icon,” said mun2 general manager Diana Mogollon. “We know her fans will share our excitement as she continues to influence, build and give back to music and the Latino community.”
Recently Rivera nearly signed a deal for her own talkshow with another network targeting the Hispanic audience, Estrella TV, only to back out. The long-term deal ensures Rivera will stick around at mun2 and could also mean further opportunities for Rivera within NBCU, which also owns broadcaster Telemundo. “Love” has already been rebroadcast on NBCU-owned channel Style.
“Love” will shoot its next season before year end for a run in 2012. The show will be produced in association with Jenni Rivera Enterprises; Pete Salgado is also an exec producer.
