Graham King nabs ‘Out of Time’

Thandie Newton circling sci-fi thriller

Graham King’s TV division has acquired global distribution rights for the upcoming Canadian series “Out of Time.”

Simon Barry wrote the pilot and will exec produce with fellow scribe Jeff King. Patt Williams will also exec produce.

Ten episodes have already been ordered to air on Canuck broadcaster Shaw Media, with Reunion Pictures set to produce. Tom Rowe, Lisa Richardson and Matthew O’Connor are exec producers for Reunion.

No U.S. network is currently attached.

One-hour drama centers on a female cop in the year 2077 who is transporting a group of terrorists en route to their execution. Suddenly, however, the group is sent time traveling back to 2012 where they can reconstitute their violent agenda.

While casting has yet to complete, Thandie Newton is circling the project and in talks to play the lead. Newton is co-starring in the new Tyler Perry pic “Good Deeds,” which is scheduled for release early next year.

GK-TV has been looking to ramp up its pipeline of late. Shingle is producing a biopic for Lifetime on former Hollywood bigwig William Wilkerson and “Port Royal” is in script development at FX.

Produced with Gale Anne Hurd’s Valhalla Entertainment, “Port Royal” centers on pirates and all types of undesirables who pass through a 17th century Jamaican town.
