Current TV continues to staff up — the expanding news cabler has hired former Fox Business Network weekend programming exec producer Terry Baker as exec VP of production, putting him in charge of the day-to-day production duties at the net under prexy David Bohrman.
Former MSNBCer Cenk Uygur joined the net earlier this week with new yakker “The Young Turks,” where he will lead in to Keith Olbermann at 8 p.m.
Prior to his time at Fox Biz, Baker worked as exec producer at CNBC, where he developed and launched cross-platform content. Bohrman has said in the past that he wants to explore the possibilities of digital news as a way to boost Current’s profile.
The network is seeking to boost its distribution largely by upping its profile with Olbermann, Uygur (who has a large online following) and its as-yet-unnamed 9 p.m. host, to whom co-founder Al Gore alluded in a press conference earlier this week. Gore refused to name names but promised journos that “you won’t have to wait long.”
