Craig Robinson has been named exec v.p. and chief diversity officer at NBCUniversal, reporting to topper Steve Burke. Robinson currently heads NBC’s owned-and-operated Los Angeles station KNBC as prexy and g.m.; he will assume his new duties August 15th.
Robinson inherits the role from Paula Madison, who retired from NBCU in May. He wil continue to serve as KNBC’s g.m. until the company names a replacement.
In the new position, Robinson will oversee NBCU’s diversity commitments, as well as sitting on NBCU and Comcast’s Joint Diversity Council. Robinson has climbed the local market ladder, holding positions at WCMH, NBC’s affiliate in Columbus, OH, and at its D.C. station, WRC.
“Diversity is one of our company’s biggest priorities, and I’m pleased that we could look within our own ranks and tap an accomplished leader like Craig to fill this important role,” said Burke.
