CBS, Chello Zone’s ratings up 44% in U.K.

CBS Action achieves 62% year-on-year growth

The U.K. digital channels run jointly by CBS Studios Intl. and Chello Zone are claiming record ratings.

The six-web portfolio, which includes CBS Action, CBS Drama, CBS Reality and Horror, has achieved year-on-year growth of 44%, according to the analysis of ratings supplied by the Broadcasters’ Audience Research Board.

The channels bowed in November 2009 and claim a monthly reach of 8.2 million adults across U.K. platforms BSkyB, Virgin and Freesat.

Re-runs of such popular fare as “Dallas” and “Star Trek: The Next Generation” are helping to drive viewing levels.

CBS Action is the best performing of the channels having achieved 62% year-on-year growth, said the company.

More than 63,000 adults watch “Star Trek: The Next Generation” every month.

Among new acquisitions for 2012 is “The Agency,” a CIA saga featuring Beau Bridges.

CBS Reality has increased its adult audience by 58%, year-on-year, thanks to fare like “Bondi Rescue” and “Judge Judy.”

CBS Drama has grown by 31% year-on-year, and December will see the start of reruns of “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” beginning with season one.
