Cartoon Network gets its live-action fix

It adds segs of 'Destroy,' 'Dude,' 'Hole'

Cartoon Network has renewed its Wednesday night live-action block, picking up extra episodes of “Destroy Build Destroy,” “Dude, What Would Happen…” and “Hole in the Wall.”

This will be the second season for “Dude” and “Hole” and the third for “Destroy.” Cartoon did not announce how many eps it had approved for each show.

Hosted by punk rocker Andrew W.K., “Destroy” features teams of kids tearing down an object to build something new (and then tear that down, as well). “Dude” gives three teens the chance to learn what happens when you try a wild stunt or experiment, such as doing laundry in a car wash, and Japanese adaptation “Hole” pits one family against another as they navigate trap-filled walls. All three have attracted viewers in the Turner toon cabler’s target aud, boys 6-11 and 9-14.

Cartoon trumpeted live-action at its upfront three years ago, when it launched “Destroy” and announced “Dude” as part of its development lineup. Both shows (the only survivors of reality-heavy slates) have made strong showings over the intervening years, with FremantleMedia skein “Hole” relaunched on Cartoon last year after being dropped by Fox.
