CNN topper Jim Walton has bumped up D.C. bureau chief David Bohrman to senior VP and chief innovation officer for CNN Worldwide.
Bohrman will begin the new role May 1; meanwhile, newly appointed CNN Worldwide exec VP-managing editor Mark Whitaker and CNN U.S. head Ken Jautz will lead the search for a new head of the net’s D.C. bureau.
“David has integrated technology with our news reporting to change the face of our coverage and further demonstrate CNN’s commitment to innovation,” Walton said in a release. “We are giving his passion for what is new and next in emerging technology a bigger canvas.” Walton said that Bohrman’s new role would involve “the creation of formats and editorial approaches… across CNN’s multiple platforms.”
The Turner cable suite has logged a number of promotions of late, with Brianna Keilar added in D.C. as White House correspondent from the Congress beat and ex-BETer Janet Rolle tapped to take over the chief marketing officer role vacated by current HLN topper Scot Safon.
