AMC PR maven moves to Starz

Apostolou to relocate to L.A. as sr. VP

Theano Apostolou is shifting cablers, moving over to Starz to become senior VP of corporate communications and programming publicity.

Apostolou will take the post Jan. 31 but won’t move to Los Angeles until June, working out of Starz’s New York office until then. She arrives from AMC, where she was senior VP of publicity, talent relations and promotional events.

At Starz, she will immediately begin working on “Spartacus” and upcoming new skeins “Camelot” and “Torchwood.”

“I am energized by the tremendous momentum Starz has created with the success of the ‘Spartacus’ franchise and the stellar talent in its upcoming original series. I look forward to joining the team at a time of significant growth and evolution at the company, as well as such dynamic change in our industry,” said Apostolou. “We made history at AMC, and I am grateful for the opportunities afforded me and proud of the team’s accomplishments.”

While at AMC for seven years, Apostolou worked on the campaigns for “Mad Men,” “Breaking Bad” and “The Walking Dead.” Previously, she helped launch Fuse and WE.

Ellen Kroner, exec VP of communications at AMC parent company Rainbow Media, said: “Theano has made enormous contributions to the growth of AMC over the years. She is one of the most gifted publicity executives in the business and brings real passion and creativity to the table. We wish her all the best in her new position.”
