Auds continue to flock to ABC and Dick Clark on New Year’s Eve.
The Alphabet’s annual “Dick Clark’s Primetime New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest” from Times Square in New York again dominated the ratings wars, racking up its largest aud in three years and more than doubling its holiday competition on NBC.
According to preliminary national estimates from Nielsen, the ABC show hosted by Seacrest and featuring Clark in his 39th consecutive year, averaged a 2.7 rating/11 share in adults 18-49 and 9.1 million viewers overall during the 10 o’clock hour. That towered over NBC’s “New Year’s Eve With Carson Daly” (prelim 1.2/5 in 18-49, 3.9 million) and CBS’ repeat of “Blue Bloods” (0.9/3 in 18-49, 6.1 million).
This is the largest aud for ABC’s “Rockin’ Eve” since 2008, and its second biggest in 10 years.
ABC also led earlier in the evening among adults 18-49 with a repeat of the movie “Wild Hogs” (1.4 rating/5 share).
Ratings for post-primetime were not available over the weekend, though ABC was expected to dominate the half-hours on either side of midnight as well.
