ABC’s ‘River’ lands ‘Paranormal’ actress

Katie Featherston reteams with Oren Peli on drama series

The “Paranormal Activity” reunion at ABC’s “The River” just added one more to its guest list, as franchise star Katie Featherston has landed a recurring role on the drama series, which hails from “Paranormal” mastermind Oren Peli.

The River” stars Bruce Greenwood as Emmet Cole, a wildlife expert and TV personality who goes missing deep in the Amazon, prompting his producer wife (Leslie Hope) and son (Joe Anderson) to set out on a mysterious and potentially deadly journey to find him. Featherston will play a member of a TV wildlife team in the Amazon over a multi-episode arc.

Peli and his “Paranormal” collaborators Jason Blum and Steven Schneider are exec producing “The River” for DreamWorks TV and ABC Studios. Jauma Collet-Serra directed the pilot, written by Michael R. Perry (“Paranormal Activity 2”).

Featherston, who rarely steps outside her comfort zone of haunted houses, serves as the face of the most profitable fright franchise of all-time, playing Katie in the horror trilogy, which has grossed more than $450 million worldwide. The latest installment grossed $54 million over its debut weekend, setting a record for the biggest horror opening of all-time. Thesp

recently wrapped the indie pic “Shadow” with Amanda Righetti and Will Estes.

Featherston is repped by APA.
