A&E hires nonfiction, alt programming exec

Lily Neumeyer joins network from MTV

A&E has hired Lily Neumeyer as VP of nonfiction and alternative programming.

Neumeyer will be responsible for overseeing the development and production of A&E’s nonfiction, alternative and reality series, and will report to senior VP Robert Sharenow.

Neumeyer arrives at A&E from MTV, where she was instrumental in launching MTVTres — a sister net aimed at the young Latino aud in the U.S.

“Lily has a great reputation for having her finger on the pulse of the industry,” said Sharenow. “Her experience in nonfiction programming and expertise in hands-on production make her a valuable asset for A&E as we continue to expand the depth and quality of our original unscripted programming lineup.”

A&E has had recent success with scripted summer drama “The Glades” and there is high expectations for “Breakout Kings,” set to debut Sunday. However, the majority of A&E’s programming remains in the reality genre.

Current top shows on the cabler are “Beyond Scared Straight,” which is averaging 2.9 million viewers an episode, and “Storage Wars” with 2.6 million.
