CBS: 3 dramas, 1 laffer move to series

Pickups include '2-2,' 'Unforgettable'

CBS has added to its series orders for the upcoming season, giving greenlights to three dramas and one comedy.

Pickup calls went out Monday morning to the cop ensembler “The 2-2” (previously known as “Rookies”) and “Unforgettable” (formerly “The Rememberer”), starring Poppy Montgomery as a detective with the ability to remember everything. Later in the day, the Eye added the medical drama from feature scribe Susannah Grant, “A Gifted Man.” Project has recruited a heavy-hitter showrunner in Neal Baer, late of “Law & Order: SVU,” who is about to start a hefty production-development deal with CBS TV Studios.

The laffer nod went to “How to Be a Gentleman” from scribe-actor David Hornsby.

The Eye’s four pickups come from CBS TV Studios. Sony Pictures TV is the co-producer on “Unforgettable” and Media Rights Capital is co-producer on “Gentleman.”

On Friday, CBS gave its first pickup nods to two skeins from Warner Bros. TV: drama “Person of Interest” and laffer “Two Broke Girls.”

There’s been some chatter about a midseason order for the untitled Rob Schneider laffer, but that hasn’t been confirmed.

Eye presents its 2011-12 season sked to advertisers on Wednesday.
