Sony boosts biz affairs’ Jackson

Will report to Calkins in home entertainment division

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has upped VP Cooper Jackson to senior VP, business affairs.

She will report to John Calkins, SPHE’s exec veep of global digital and commercial innovation, who made the announcement Thursday.

In her new position, Jackson will be charged with evaluating potential distribution partnerships, licensing deals and other initiatives. She’ll also oversee business affairs for SPHE and negotiate the business terms and structure of home entertainment agreements globally.

“Cooper is a key player across SPHE’s global business, and I’m thrilled to recognize her work with this promotion,” said Calkins. “She has proven herself to be a shrewd and strategic negotiator in the midst of tremendous change in our industry and over the course of dynamic and complex negotiations.”

Jackson previously served as VP of legal affairs for Sony Pictures Entertainment Distribution. Prior to joining Sony, Jackson was senior VP of business affairs at Genius Products and before that, VP of business and legal affairs at Warner Home Video. She began her legal career as an intellectual property and antitrust litigator in New York and Los Angeles.
