Martha Henderson, executive VP, City National Bank

Dealmakers Impact Report 2011: Finance

As topper of the bank’s entertainment division, Henderson spearheaded a number of showbiz transactions, including a $25 million investment in Summit’s $200 million revolving credit facility in March.

“The first film we financed was ‘Purple Rain,’ ” says the 28-year bank veteran. “Twenty-five years later, we’re working on the ‘Twilight’ transactions, which is sort of the ‘Purple Rain’ of this generation.”

A typical Henderson day finds her meeting with execs from Alcon, Summit and Relativity in the morning before jetting off to the Country Music Awards.

She and her team have handled deals for projects as diverse as Broadway’s “Book of Mormon,” Woody Allen’s “Midnight in Paris” and TBS’ “Are We There Yet?”

This past year, the bank invested $25 million in Alcon’s $200 million restructured credit facility, which lets the company double its slate.

Henderson also oversaw the bank’s first sports transactions when a client invested in three unidentified major New York teams.

KEY DEALS: Investing in credit facilities for Summit and Alcon.
