Juma Entertainment has named a new COO in Peter J. DeVita, who will open the shingle’s new branch in New York City in October.
The dual moves further an ongoing expansion for Juma, producer of TV series including “The Singing Bee” as well as specials.
Juma already has offices in Burbank and New Hope, Penn. but has been ramping up its production capabilities with the relocation of production head Lewis Fenton to New Hope and the recent hire of West Coast development head Michael Hazan.
In coming to Juma after 14 years at IMG Worldwide (most recently as business affairs senior veep), DeVita will reunite with Juma prexy and founder Robert Horowitz. The pair joined forces from 1997-2005 when Horowitz ran IMG’s U.S. television arm TWI.
“After working together for eight years at IMG and collaborating together on multiple projects during the last six years, I speak from experience when I say that Pete DeVita is an all-star,” Horowitz said. “With his extensive background across virtually every facet of entertainment and sports, I’m confident Pete will be a huge asset to the entire Juma team and a great leader for our New York City office.”
DeVita will focus on developing new opportunities for Juma in entertainment and sports for the smallscreen as well as potential strategic partnerships. At IMG, he helped manage the company’s North American TV production assets and negotiated rights deals.
“I look forward to helping position the company for continued growth and to immersing in the creative, entrepreneurial, and independent business environment that Bob and his team have cultivated at Juma,” DeVita said.
