Peter Nichols has joined U.K.-based film financier Prescience as chairman.

Nichols is owner and founder of the Chancery group of wealth management businesses, which has raised in excess of £500 million ($812 million) for U.K. pics over the last decade.

As chairman, Nichols will play a key role in the continuing development of Prescience as it consolidates its position as an integrated media company and indie financier in Blighty and the U.S.

Prescience, which backed pics including “The King’s Speech” and “Chalet Girl,” has a longstanding relationship with Chancery, and both Nichols and Prescience topper Tim Smith are directors of the Aegis Film Fund.

Nichols has simultaneously acquired a strategic shareholding in the Prescience group of companies.

Prescience recently announced it had merged its sales operations with that of longtime collaborator Ealing Studios to form Ealing Metro.
