Nomination reaction: Michael Arndt

Writer, best picture, best animated film, 'Toy Story 3'

“Toy Story 3” scribe Michael Arndt felt a responsibility to live up to the high standards set by the first two pics when he was penning the screenplay for the Disney/Pixar toon, which nabbed mentions for best pic and adapted screenplay among its five noms.

“We knew how beloved the first two films were and the last five years of writing and working on this film and just living up to the last two was going to be very difficult but I think these nominations shows how appreciative people were of the film,” he said. “It’s kind of mind-blowing — someone just told me that we are the first sequel to get nominated that didn’t have prior film nominated.”
