The Brit mania sweeping the world found its American epicenter Thursday night at the fifth annual BritWeek’s gala dinner. The event, honoring AEG prexy Timothy Leiweke, kicked off with cocktails as attendees mingled with performers from Cirque du Soleil’s “Love.”

Perfs by South African acapella crooners Overtone and a set of songs by Seal quickly transformed the charity gala at L.A. Live into an energetic concert, with dinnergoers racing to the stage to dance.

Though the night highlighted the AEG prexy and local charity L.A.’s Best, the Lakers featured a lot. “First of all, Lakers won,” Leiweke said, and as the crowd cheered, interjected, “Still really pissed off about the Kings, but we won’t talk about that.”

While Seal said: “I think I’m only scheduled to play three songs, but Tim, if you let me get away with it and keep my Lakers courtside seats on Monday night, I think we’ll slip one or two more in there.” – — AJ Marechal
