Publisher Ole nabs ‘Yo Gabba Gabba’ rights

Acquisition beefs up company's roster of kidvid tunes

Independent music publisher Ole has inked a deal with Wildbrain to handle music content for the popular children’s TV series “Yo Gabba Gabba” that will cover North America.

The move beefs up Ole’s presence in children’s music publishing where it handles music rights for shows produced by Cookie Jar, Nelvana and WGBH.

“Yo Gabba Gabba,” co-created by Christian Jacobs, lead singer of the California-based band the Aquabats, and Scott Schultz, consistently draws between 1 million and 1.5 million viewers for Nick Junior. It has featured such musical guests as Mark Mothersbaugh of Devo, Weezer, The Roots and hip-hop artist Biz Markie, who was a featured performer on the “Yo Gabba Gabba Live” 60-date North American tour last year.

The deal comes on the heels of Ole’s acquisition last week of songs penned by Swedish producer-songwriter Rami Yacoub, who has supplied hits for such artists as Britney Spears, ‘N Sync and Pink.

Other Yacoub copyrights in the deal include titles by the Backstreet Boys, Enrique Iglesias, Celine Dion, Westlife and Michael Bolton, among others.
