The Los Angeles Philharmonic has extended the chairmanship of David Bohnett for another year, effective immediately.
Bohnett joined the Philharmonic’s board in January 2004 and became chairman in October 2008 for a three-year term, which was set to expire this year.
L.A. Phil prexy-chief executive Deborah Borda said Bohnett’s “remarkable leadership skills and his passion for both community and music, as well as his commitment to the future of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, are key components of the strength of this institution today.”
Bohnett is the founder of the Web-based media and e-commerce firm GeoCities. He also chairs the David Bohnett Foundation, a non-profit activist grant-making organization. He funds tech start-ups through his private equity firm Baroda Ventures.
The Philharmonic also announced the appointment of new board member Jennifer Chernick, who heads the classical artist management firm Cadenza Artists.
