Country Music acad puts award in fans’ hands

Winners to be announced on April 3 kudocast

The L.A.-based Academy of Country Music is giving country fans the opportunity to separate the wheat from the chaff via online voting for finalists among nominees for top new solo vocalist and top new vocal duo or group.

Eric Church, Easton Corbin and Randy Houser will compete for solo vocalist honors, while the Band Perry, the JaneDear Girls and Steel Magnolia will face off for duo or group kudos.

Fans can vote for these categories at VoteACM.com and Great American Country’s site, GACTV.com, beginning Jan. 27. Voting closes on Feb. 24; winners in each category will be announced in March and move on to compete for top new artist.

“ACM Showcase,” a special featuring all six nominees, will air beginning Jan. 27 on GAC. Reigning top new artist Luke Bryan will host.

A full list of nominees will be announced in February. The ACM Awards will be aired from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Vegas on April 3.
