Coachella announces lineup

Arcade Fire, Kanye West included in headliners

Kings of Leon, Arcade Fire, Kanye West and the Strokes lead the list of headliners for the 2011 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival.

The massive annual event will be held April 15-17 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA.

The customary mix of buzzy new acts, seasoned vets and reunited groups will be on hand at Coachella this year. The second tier of the bill is filled out by the Black Keys, Interpol, the Chemical Brothers, Caifanes, Robyn, Animal Collective, Mumford & Sons, Bright Eyes, Duran Duran, the National, PJ Harvey and Death From Above 1979.

Also in the mix: Lauryn Hill, Brandon Flowers, Erykah Badu, Cee Lo Green, Cold War Kids, Sleigh Bells, the Kills, Damian Marley, Chromeo, Jimmy Eat World, Neon Trees and some U.K. acts long out of circulation – Big Audio Dynamite, the London Suede and Leftfield.

Presented by AEG’s Goldenvoice division, Coachella ’11 has brought on the Creators Project as a creative partner; the organization has consulted on selecting headlining acts and curating a series of art installations on the festival grounds.

Three-day passes go on sale Jan. 21 for $269 via Ticketmaster.com and at coachella.com, where a complete list of performers is now available.

Coachella is sponsored by Wrigley, Heineken, Musicians Institute, H&M, JBL, Red Bull and American Spirits.
