‘Battle’ takes top spot at Friday B.O.

Alien invasion pic bests 'Red Riding Hood'

There wasn’t much of a battle at the box office on Friday.

Sony’s new pic “Battle: Los Angeles” easily won the fight by earning about $13.5 million in 3,417 runs.

Its closest competitor was new Warner Bros. Pic “Red Riding Hood,” which made about $5.7 million in 3,030 engagements. Paramount’s animated pic “Rango” followed with about $5.5 million in 3,923 engagements. Universal’s “The Adjustment Bureau” earned about $3.4 million in 2,847 runs. Disney pic “Mars Needs Moms” rounded out the top 5 with about $1.7 million in 3,117 engagements.

CBS Films “Beastly” earned about $1.6 million in 1,959 runs in its second week. New Line/Warner Bros. Pic “Hall Pass” collected about $1.5 million in 2,555 engagements. Sony’s “Just Go With It” earned about $1.2 million in 2,398 runs, while “The King’s Speech” collected about $1 million in 1,768 engagements.

Dark Castle/Warner Bros. Pic “Unknown” collected about $975,000 in 2,303 runs.
