Patina Miller, topliner of the incoming Broadway incarnation of “Sister Act,” is set to star in the Encores! presentation of Kurt Weill-Maxwell Anderson tuner “Lost in the Stars,” along with thesps Chuck Cooper (“Finian’s Rainbow”), Sharon Washington (“The Scottsboro Boys”), Daniel Breaker (“Shrek the Musical”) and John Douglas Thompson (“Othello”).
Gary Griffin (“The Color Purple”) helms, with choreography by Chase Brock.
The 1949 musical is based on Alan Paton’s novel “Cry, the Beloved Country,” about the search for a missing son in apartheid-era South Africa. Daniel Gerroll and Sherry Boone also are among the cast.
City Center’s annual Encores! series, which launched the longrunning Broadway production of “Chicago,” presents short runs of musical revivals in semi-staged concert versions. “Lost in the Stars” is set to play Feb. 3-6, ahead of the season’s third offering, “Where’s Charlie?,” skedded for March.
