Ralph Fiennes will play Prospero in “The Tempest,” Shakespeare’s final play, at the Theater Royal Haymarket in London’s West End. Helmed by Trevor Nunn, the production begins previews Aug. 27.
Fiennes’ movie commitments mean the run will be strictly limited. He is skedded to start work on helmer Sam Mendes’ James Bond film in December. Pic is scripted by John Logan who also scripted Fiennes’ recent movie helming debut “Coriolanus.”
In other London casting news, Diana Rigg will join the forthcoming West End production of George Bernard Shaw’s “Pygmalion.” She will play mother to the previously announced Rupert Everett.
The Chichester Festival Theater production, directed by Philip Prowse, previews at the Garrick May 12 ahead of a May 25 opening.
