The Ricky Martin-toplined revival of “Evita” has locked in Broadway dates for an opening in early April.

Show follows “Follies,” the strong-selling staging of the Stephen Sondheim musical, into the Marquis Theater. Despite the high box office numbers, “Follies” is to finish off its limited run Jan. 22.

“Evita,” a version of a production seen in London in 2006, stars Elena Roger, who won raves for her U.K. turn as the Argentinean first lady Eva Peron. Michael Cerveris (“Assassins”) appears as president Juan Peron.

Rialto revival of the well-known Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice property reps a return to Broadway for Martin, who producers hope will attract his deep pool of fans especially among the Latin community, a demo not usually targeted by most Broadway fare.

Hal Luftig (“Catch Me if You Can,” “Legally Blonde”) and Scott Sanders (“The Color Purple”) produce “Evita,” which begins previews March 12 ahead of an April 5 opening.
