Ellen Burstyn will topline the play “The Atmosphere of Memory,” the upcoming Off Broadway production from LAByrinth Theater Company.

World preem by David Bar Katz centers on a playwright whose real mother (Burstyn) is cast in an autobiographical play about his own youth and family life. Actress previously worked with LAByrinth in the 2008 Off Broadway staging of Stephen Adly Guirgis’ “The Little Flower of East Orange” and more recently appeared in the West End revival of “The Children’s Hour.”

Pam MacKinnon (“Clybourne Park”) helms the production, the first to play in the company’s new venue, the Bank Street Theater in downtown Manhattan.

LAByrinth, the company co-founded by Philip Seymour Hoffman, is coming off a season that saw Guirgis’ “The Motherfucker With the Hat,” of which LAByrinth was a producer, earn several Tony noms and become a commercial success.

“Atmosphere” beigns previews Oct. 15 ahead of an Oct. 30 opening at the Bank Street Theater.
