Warner Bros.-based producer Lionel Wigram has acquired feature rights to Jeff Smith’s three-year-old sci-fi comic series “RASL.”
The title character is a former military scientist who’s become an art thief with the ability to hide out in parallel worlds. Smith is best known for the comic series “Bone,” which appeared between 1991 and 2004 and has been in development at Warner Bros. with Dan Lin.
Wigram will produce “RASL” with Smith and Wigram Prods. VP Peter Eskelsen exec producing.
Wigram produced the two “Sherlock Holmes” pics for Warners after penning the comic that was the basis for the reboot. He had served as a senior VP of production at Warner Bros. and oversaw the first three “Harry Potter” pics before signing a first-look deal with the studio.
ICM, which brokered the deal and reps Smith, confirmed the project Friday.
