“Vampire Diaries” lead actor Paul Wesley is being eyed for the Count Paris role in Carlo Carlei’s “Romeo and Juliet.”

Producers have offered Wesley the part opposite British thesp Douglas Booth as Romeo and Hailee Steinfeld as Juliet in the latest version of Shakespeare’s classic. Julian Fellowes penned the script and will produce the adaptation with Ileen Maisel and Lawrence Elman of Amber Entertainment.

Production’s expected to start in September.

Holly Hunter co-stars as Juliet’s Nurse, while Ed Westwick and Kodi Smit-McPhee are set to play the lovers’ cousins, Tybalt and Benvolio, respectively.

Wesley portrays 162-year-old vampire Stefan Salvatore on the CW’s “Vampire Diaries,” which begins its third season in September.

Wesley is repped by ICM and Thruline Entertainment.
