If you didn’t happen to catch this before “Sherlock Holmes” (and not many of you did), Warner Bros. released the newest “Dark Knight Rises” trailer on Monday.
Offering glimpses of Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman as well as Tom Hardy’s slightly incoherent Bane, the new footage also showcases an explosive football sequence (yes, Gotham football).
To call “The Dark Knight Rises” the most-anticipated tentpole of 2012 would be unfair to “The Hobbit,” “Avengers” and “Spider-Man,” but who are we kidding? Batman is still the coolest cat in Hollywood.
In addition to the new trailer, WB is teasing a six-minute “Dark Knight” prologue before Paramount’s “Mission: Impossible” Imax screenings. (Check here for local listings)
Directed by Christopher Nolan, “The Dark Knight Rises” features an all-star ensemble including Christian Bale, Hardy, Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Gary Oldman, Juno Temple and Michael Cane.
WB’s “Dark Knight,” released in 2008, grossed over $1 billion worldwide.
