‘True Blood’ thesp joins Cianfrance pic

Dane DeHaan to star opposite Ryan Gosling, Eva Mendes in 'Pines'

“True Blood” thesp Dane DeHaan has landed one of the last major roles in Derek Cianfrance’s multigenerational crime drama “The Place Beyond the Pines.”

DeHaan will play Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes’ son, who gets caught up in a botched drug deal with the son of Bradley Cooper’s character, a cop-turned-politician.

Supporting cast includes Greta Gerwig, Ben Mendelsohn, Ray Liotta, Mahershalalhasbaz Ali and Gabe Fazio.

Sidney Kimmel Entertainment is financing and producing the pic, which starts shooting later this month in Schenectady, N.Y.

Sidney Kimmel is producing with the “Blue Valentine” trio of Alex Orlovsky, Lynette Howell and Jamie Patricof, while SKE’s Jim Tauber and Matt Berenson are exec producing. Sierra/Affinity’s Nick Meyer is handling foreign sales.

DeHaan is one of the young leads in 20th Century Fox’s “Chronicle” and will soon be seen alongside Shia LaBeouf in John Hillcoat’s bootlegging drama “The Wettest County in the World.” Thesp plays Timbo on HBO’s “True Blood” and previously co-starred in the cabler’s “In Treatment.”

DeHaan is repped by CAA and The Schiff Company.
