Tribeca Film has gobbled up U.S. and Canadian rights to “Turkey Bowl,” the indie comedy that bowed at the South by Southwest fest earlier this year.
Written and helmed by Kyle Smith, pic centers on an annual sporting event — a backyard football game with a turkey as a prize — organized every summer as a reunion of 10 longtime friends. Jon Schmidt, Kerry Bishe, Zoe Perry, Zeke Hawkins and Tim DiMenna star.
Smith and Stephen Paratore produce. Distribution pact was negotiated by Tribeca’s Nick Savva with attorney George M. Rush.
Tribeca Film is the year-old distrib arm of Tribeca Enterprises, the parent org of the Tribeca Film Festival. Company is planning a June release for the movie on a number of platforms.
Theatrical release is not currently part of the plan but remains a possibility.
