Positioning itself with a longer lead time into the Fourth of July frame, Paramount has shifted “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” from July 1 to a June 29 launch pad.

Pic’s newly dated Wednesday berth is typical of most holiday pics, especially tentpoles, as studios hope to build word of mouth prior to the actual weekend.

Par launched “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” on a Wednesday, the week before Independence Day weekend in 2009; the original “Transformers” bowed on a Tuesday, the day before Fourth of July.

So far, Universal is sticking with its July 1 date for Tom Hanks-Julia Roberts starrer “Larry Crowne,” as is 20th Century Fox with plans to release girl-targeted “Monte Carlo” that same weekend.
