“Transformers: Dark of the Moon” opened the Moscow Film Festival June 23 at the Pushkinsky Cinema Theater, while across town in Red Square, Linkin Park performed for several thousand Russians.
For Paramount’s third “Transformers” movie, Brad Grey and the studio “wanted a premiere as big as the film itself — something on a global stage,” said the topper.
Helmer Michael Bay had more personal reasons for picking Moscow. “My Russian grandfather would be proud,” he said. “And Linkin Park performing in Red Square is the icing on the cake.”
The rockers make it three for three with the trio of “Transformers” movies, having followed “What I’ve Done” and “New Divide” with the new title song, “Iridiscent.”
