Awards strategist and 42West partner Cynthia Swartz is ankling the bicoastal publicity firm to open her own PR shop.

Swartz has been a partner at 42West since 2005. Prior to joining that company she worked for Harvey Weinstein for 13 years as exec VP of publicity at Miramax. She has helped frame numerous awards campaigns, including last season’s effort for Sony’s “The Social Network.”

Swartz is expected to work with 42West again on campaigns, with 42West partners Leslee Dart, Amanda Lundberg and Allan Mayer saying, “We have been extremely supportive of this (move) and anticipate collaborating with her on projects in the future.”

Swartz plans to have her PR firm up and running by early September, when awards season revs up with the Telluride, Venice and Toronto film festivals.

It’s unclear if other 42West staffers will join her, as the company is working out details of her exit.
