Sony has upped senior VP Michael Marshall to exec VP of business affairs for Columbia Pictures. He joined Sony in 2008.
Marshall will continue to negotiate development and production deals for Col, including rights acquisitions and personal service deals for filmmakers. “Mike has been instrumental in the dealmaking on some of our most valued and important motion pictures,” said Andrew Gumpert, Col prexy of worldwide business affairs and operations.
Since joining the studio, Marshall has helped shepherd deals for “The Bounty Hunter” and the upcoming “Battle: Los Angeles.” He’s overseeing some aspects of Sony’s next “Spider-Man” pic, as well as “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” and “Total Recall.”
Marshall was previously exec VP of business and legal affairs at Our Stories Film and Marvel.
