Ryan Reynolds in final talks for ‘Turbo’

Thesp would voice lead role in D'Works pic

Ryan Reynolds is in final negotiations to voice the lead role in DreamWorks Animation’s “Turbo.”

David Soren (“Merry Madagascar”) is directing from a script he co-wrote with Darren Lemke (“Shrek Forever After”). Story follows an ordinary garden snail who dreams of becoming the fastest snail in the world. When a freak accident gives him extraordinary speed, Turbo sets out to try to make his dream come true.

Lisa Stewart (“Monsters vs. Aliens”) is producing “Turbo,” which is slated for release on June 7, 2013.

Reynolds has a relationship with the studio, having voiced one of the leads in Chris Sanders’ adventure comedy “The Croods,” which DWA will open on March 1, 2013, three months prior to “Turbo.”

Thesp is currently at CinemaCon, where he is being honored as Male Star of the Year. He next stars as Hal Jordan in Warner Bros.’ “Green Lantern,” and will also be seen opposite Jason Bateman in Universal’s body-switching comedy “The Change-Up.”

Reynolds is repped by CAA.
