Route One Films has launched development of supernatural romancer “Mapmaker’s Lover,” by Yaniv Raz.
Story centers on a bereaved young woman whose fiance has perished in a plane crash. She gets a second chance at love when an eccentric mapmaker offers her a bit of magical cartography to help her understand her past and rewrite the future.
Route One Films comprised of partners Jay Stern, Russell Levine and Chip Diggins and creative exec Megan Hughes. Jesse Stern’s co-producing.
“All of us at Route One were enchanted by Yaniv’s original story, which is uniquely romantic and deeply moving,” the company said. “We look forward to making a mainstream movie with a touch of magic and poetry.”
Stern’s credits include the “Rush Hour” films and the upcoming “Horrible Bosses.”
Raz is a co-writer on “Stroke of Genius” with Christopher Plummer attached to star and Michael Schroeder attached to direct. Other credits include “Son of The Morning” and the short film “Things Fall Apart.”
Raz formerly directed public service announcements for MoveOn.org, including recent national spots starring Olivia Wilde, Heather Graham and Lisa Edelstein.
Raz is represented by Gersh, Chad Snopek and attorney Alex Kohner.
