Producers of indie sci-fier “The Host” have cast Saoirse Ronan to topline the big-screen adaptation of the novel by Stephenie Meyer (“Twilight”).
Inferno Entertainment will launch sales at Cannes next week. There’s no production date or director set yet for the project, adapted by Andrew Niccol.
Producers are Nick Wechsler and Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz. Inferno’s Marc Butan, Jim Seibel and Bill Johnson are exec producing.
“The Host,” published in 2008, revolves around the takeover of Earth by an alien race known as Souls.
Ronan’s currently starring in “Hanna.” Niccol wrote and directed “Now,” the Justin Timberlake-Amanda Seyfried thriller for New Regency that is due out in October.
