Mandate Pictures and the “50/50” team of Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Jonathan Levine and Will Reiser are reteaming to develop the feature comedy “Jamaica.”
Levine is attached to direct from a screenplay by Reiser, who is loosely basing the script on a vacation he took to Jamaica with his grandmother when he was 14. Reiser brought the idea to Mandate, which will immediately fast track the project.
Rogen and Goldberg will produce through their Point Grey Pictures banner, while Reiser will exec produce with Point Grey’s James Weaver, as well as Mandate’s Nathan Kahane and Nicole Brown.
“This is a story that I’ve long wanted to tell,” said Reiser. “It’s something of a passion project for me, and I couldn’t be more excited to have found it a home at Mandate.”
Summit Entertainment is releasing Levine’s cancer dramedy “50/50” on Sept. 30.
Dan Freedman, Mandate’s SVP of business affairs, negotiated the talent deals for the company. UTA reps Rogen, Goldberg and Reiser, while CAA and manager Ragna Nervik rep Levine. Reiser is also managed by Thruline Entertainment and Rogen is managed by Principal Entertainment.
